US President, Donald Trump, confirms that he has landed ‘potential’ trade deals with three named countries, the president said at a NewsNation town hall on Wednesday.

Red hot phones

Ever since ‘Liberation Day’ on wednesday april 2nd, when Trump announced his sweeping tariffs on basically every country in the world, the phones have been glowing behind the scenes.

‘Done’ deals

Numerous countries have voiced interest in landing a new trade deal with the US to avoid the heavy tariffs, and now the efforts seem to have given results.

Three Asian Countries

During the town hall meeting, POTUS confirmed the new ‘potential’ trade deals while naming the three countries – all of them Asian.

Home of Samsung

According to the president, one of the countries is South Korea, home of Samsung. The country was hit with a 25 per cent tariff on Liberation Day.

A long time ally

The second country is Japan, which was hit with a 24 per cent tariff.

The World’s largest population

The third country named was India, hit by 26 per cent tariffs on Liberation day. India has surpassed China as the world’s largest population with close to 1.464 billion living in the country as of 2025.

90 days suspension

The announced tariffs were meant to take effect on april 9th, but the same day, Trump announced a 90 days suspension on all countries except China.

The calls started pouring in

According to Trump, he suspended the tariffs because 75 countries had reached out to the US, asking to negotiate trade deal.

U.S. and China outbid each other

The tariffs on Chinese goods, which were not paused, are at a staggering 145 per cent. China has retaliated by slapping a 125 per cent tariff on US goods.

The first exemptions

Trump has sinces exempted certain products from the 145 per cent, including smartphones, computers and some other eletronical devices.

China working on exemption list

Yesterday, on april 30th, reports claimed that Beijing is working on a list of U.S.-goods, that will be exempted from the countrys 125 per cent tariff as well.

Pharma, microships and aircraft engines

Some American products have already been exempt, such as select pharmaceuticals, microchips and aircraft engines.
