He was 65 years old. His wife, Victoria Mary Clarke, confirmed his death on her Instagram account.

MacGowan was renowned for his musical genius and personal struggles, leaving a lasting impact on the music world with hits like 'Fairytale of New York'. His unique voice and poetic songwriting have left an indelible mark on music history.

Clarke expressed her deep sorrow in her Instagram post, stating, "Shane will always be my light, the one I measure my dreams against and share my love with."

She reflected on their years together filled with life, love, laughter, and adventures. Clarke also thanked her late husband for his musical contributions that touched many lives.

The couple married in 2018 at Copenhagen City Hall, celebrated with notable guests including Johnny Depp, a close friend of MacGowan.
