A long-anticipated first look at the closing chapter of The Boys has finally arrived.
Fans at CCXP Brazil were given both a release date and the debut teaser, marking the beginning of the end for Prime Video’s hit series.
Showrunner Eric Kripke confirmed that Season 5 will open on April 8, 2026 with a two-episode launch, followed by weekly installments.
The finale is slated for May 20, 2026, officially drawing the curtain on the show.
Final showdown builds
The newly unveiled teaser focuses on Karl Urban’s Butcher gathering allies as the group prepares for a final confrontation with Antony Starr’s Homelander.

According to IGN’s reporting, the footage hints at steep casualties, with a brief appearance from Jensen Ackles’ Soldier Boy, again held under Homelander’s watch.
Homelander is also shown savagely attacking someone, or something, raising questions about whether a major character death is on the horizon.
Prime Video’s synopsis sets the tone: in a world fully under Homelander’s erratic rule, Hughie, Mother’s Milk and Frenchie are held in a “Freedom Camp,” Annie struggles to form a resistance, Kimiko is missing, and Butcher returns wielding a Supe-killing virus that could alter everything.
Expanded universe threads
Season 5 continues plotlines from both Season 4 and Gen V Season 2.
IGN notes that fans eager to see Marie Moreau face Homelander should temper expectations.

Kripke has repeatedly said Marie will not appear as a last-minute savior, emphasizing in interviews with multiple outlets that she has not yet mastered her blood-manipulating abilities and is “not Neo at the end of The Matrix.”
Still, IGN highlights that Marie’s power theoretically makes her one of the few who could kill Homelander, an “evil Superman”-type figure whose dominance has long gone unchallenged.
High stakes ahead
In comments to The Hollywood Reporter, Kripke said Butcher is “front of that line” of those eager to take Homelander down, while characters including Stan Edgar, Annie and Hughie could also play key roles if the tyrant finally falls.
Kripke added that Season 5 will depict a swelling anti-Homelander movement led by Starlight, with A-Train joining the resistance.
But he cautioned that they are “outgunned, outmanned” in a nation that has “drunk Homelander’s Kool-Aid.”
