Country singer-songwriter Todd Snider has died at the age of 59.
His team confirmed his death on Friday, November 14, saying he succumbed to severe injuries sustained in what they described as a violent assault earlier this month.
Snider had been transported to hospital following the incident and later faced a series of medical complications.
A beloved storyteller
In a statement shared by Aimless, Inc., his team wrote that they were “heartbroken” to announce the loss of their founder, calling him “our Folk Hero, our Poet of the World… the Storyteller.”
The message paid tribute to Snider’s gift for language, noting that he “always had the right words” and could “distill everything down to its essence with words and song.”

Assault and cancellation of tour
Earlier this month, Snider was arrested in Salt Lake City on charges including disorderly conduct, threat of violence and trespassing.
He was released hours later and taken to hospital for treatment of injuries.
Shortly afterward, he cancelled all dates for his High, Lonesome and Then Some 2025 tour, with his team saying he had been “the victim of a violent assault outside of his hotel.”

Worsening health
On November 14, those close to Snider told fans that he had developed walking pneumonia after experiencing breathing problems when he was discharged from hospital.
They urged supporters to keep him in their thoughts as he underwent treatment.
“You’ve carried him through so much over the years,” the statement said, “and he needs that from all of us now more than ever.”
