Royal unions once shaped borders, alliances and entire continents.

While modern politics no longer operates that way, echoes of those traditions still surface in unexpected places.

Greenland tensions

US President Donald Trump’s renewed interest in Greenland has unsettled relations with Denmark and sparked intense debate.

The issue has prompted political analysis, diplomatic responses and a wave of commentary on both sides of the Atlantic.

The discussion has now taken an unexpected cultural turn, driven not by officials but by voices from US media and social platforms.

Unusual proposal

The idea originated from an X account using the name “miss white,” which shared two images: one of Barron Trump, the US president’s 19-year-old son, and one of Denmark’s Princess Isabella.

Alongside the images, the account suggested an unconventional solution to the Greenland dispute.

“The simple diplomatic solution is that Barron Trump marries Princess Isabella of Denmark, and Greenland is given to America as a dowry,” the post read.

The proposal was framed as tongue-in-cheek rather than a serious policy recommendation.

Megyn Kelly shares

The post gained wider attention after being shared by Megyn Kelly, a prominent US journalist and former Fox News host with more than 3.6 million followers on X.

Kelly reposted the message with the caption:

“The Henry(Etta) Kissinger i vores tid!”

It remains unclear how literally the reference to Henry Kissinger was meant to be taken.

Kissinger, a former US secretary of state, was known for his realist approach to diplomacy, prioritising power and results over idealism.
