President Donald Trump once again claims that he might be the last Republican president. This time it is the fault of a congressional candidate from Michigan.
It is beginning to dawn on President Donald Trump that the midterm election is just around the corner.
Booming inflation, the Iran War, and increasing scrutiny of Trump’s character have put pressure on every Republican seeking re-election against more progressive Democratic candidates.
For the second day in a row, Trump’s rage is centered on a Democratic congressional nominee from Michigan.
No more Republican Presidents
On Tuesday, Abdul El-Sayed won the Democratic nomination for Congress in Michigan, narrowly beating Haley Stevens. He will face Republican Mike Rogers in the general election.
This has made the President of the United States very upset.
Last night, Trump claimed on his social media platform Truth Social that if El-Sayed gets elected to Congress, there will be no more presidents elected from the Republican Party.
“If [El-Sayed] succeeds, the Dumocrats will gain 4 Senators, 8 Congressmen, many Electoral and Popular Votes, a stacked Supreme Court with 23 Justices, and I will be, sadly, despite the great job we are doing, the last Republican President!” Trump wrote last night.
Trump attacks El-Sayed
This is the second time in two days that Trump has personally attacked El-Sayed.
As reported yesterday, Trump fired off a series of posts calling the Democrat ‘corrupt’ while hinting at election fraud.
Now Trump attacks the politician from Michigan because he wants to remove a rule in the Senate that requires 60 votes out of 100 to advance legislation.
This is also commonly known as the 3/5 filibuster rule, which Trump has repeatedly pressured his own party into repealing.
Was Trump confused?
This is not the first time Trump has claimed that he will be the last GOP President.
Back in June, Trump proclaimed “Anybody who doesn’t want to Terminate the Filibuster is a FOOL, a very stupid one, at that! … The Republican Party will never win another Election. I will, sadly, be the last Republican President.”
It seems Trump got confused about how the filibuster works, because only an hour later, he walked back his attack on El-Sayed, as they seem to agree on abolishing the rule, posting that “Abdulrahman Mohamed El-Sayed wants to terminate the Filibuster, and so do I — At least we have something in common!”
