In conflicts marked by unpredictable strikes and shifting frontlines, even experienced soldiers can find themselves caught off-guard.

Newly circulated footage captures such a moment involving Russian troops travelling on a frontline supply route.

A routine mission

The report states that two Russian soldiers had just completed a delivery of ammunition and supplies at an undisclosed position in Ukraine.

As they made their return, they entered an area littered with the charred remains of earlier attacks.

Their route took them past several destroyed vehicles, hit by FPV kamikaze drones. Flames and smoke still rose from the wreckage, with no sign of survivors among the burnt-out machines.

One of the men filmed the scene from inside the cabin, documenting what they encountered as they rolled through the devastated landscape.

Running commentary

The Daily Express notes that the passenger provided a steady commentary as they drove.

“I am driving with ‘Slush’, he says. ‘Returning from a mission to carry provisions and mines. Here on the way we came across our colleagues that got burned by an FPV so we too may burn similarly.’”

He went on to describe mechanical issues and the driver’s efforts to keep the truck under control. “In short this is how things are, but it’s alright we like it.”

Just seconds after he spoke the words, an explosion erupted from behind the vehicle, cutting the recording abruptly.

Covert strike in the south

Separately, Ukrainian military intelligence (GUR) shared new footage of an operation behind Russian lines.

According to the Daily Express, GUR worked with local partisans to target Chechen fighters serving alongside Russian forces.

The contingent, known as “Kadyrovites,” was reportedly attacked in the occupied Berdiansk district of Zaporizhzhia while engaged in illicit fuel trading.

Partisans had planted mines around the meeting point, and explosions soon tore through the scene, leaving thick smoke rising from two vehicles.
