You might have a chance, but it’s not going to be easy!

The best in the World

It’s a dream that athletes, musicians and many more have, but only a few individuals will ever be able to reach that goal.

Everything is fair game

But you can claim the World Record in pretty much anything.

For example, have far you can blow a pea?

Or how quickly you can eat a bowl of pasta?

Yep, it’s a thing

It may sound weird (and let’s admit, that some of them are), but the two examples are actual World Records.

And you don’t really have to be an athlete or a pro at something to try your abilities in disciplines like those, right?

Ready to dream?

So if you’re dreaming of claiming a World Record and don’t really care what it’s for, get ready to be inspired with these 7 (weird) World Records!

Fastest Pasta Eating

Leah Shutkever (UK) managed to eat an entire bowl of pasta in just 17.03 seconds in 2023, claiming the World Record in that specific discipline.

The criteria

There are different criterias for different records, but you can start out by trying your skills with 100 grams of (uncooked) pasta and at least 50 grams of sauce and use a fork.

Longest Hug

We all love a good hug, but you’d probably break it off way before the 32 hours, 32 minutes and 32 seconds the worlds longest hug lasted.

The criteria

IYou have to be at least 16 years of age to apply for this record title.

Largest collection of Rubber Ducks

Yep, this is actually a thing.

But admittetly, 5,631 different rubber ducks would take up a lot of space!

Nevertheless, this was the number of different rubber ducks a woman from Seattle had in 2018 – and she’s still getting more!

The criteria

All of the rubber ducks need to be unique, meaning you can’t just go out and by 6,000 identical ones to beat the record.

Farthest distance to blow a pea

We’re told not to play with our food, but if you can manage to blow a pea further than 25.89 metres, you can actually claim a World Record!

The criteria

You’re only allowed one breath, but you can break it up into smaller puffs.

The pea has to be a standard-sized, non-frozen pea.

The pea has to start from the starting line, and the distance has to be measurable.

Most Spoons balanced on a human body

You might have tried breathing on a spoon and sticking it to your nose.

Now imagine sticking 96 spoons to your body.

That’s exactly what an Iranian man did in 2023, breaking his previous record of 88 spoons.

The criteria

You’re allowed to have a helper place the spoons, meaning you can stand as still as possible.

Spoons are allowed to fall of during the attempt – it’s the total sticking to your body at any given time that counts.

The spoons has to be made of metal and no adhesive is allowed.

Largest collection of Snow Globes

Starting in 2000, a Chinese woman claimed the World Record of the largest collection of snow globes in 2016 with a total of 4,059.

The criteria

As with the rubber ducks, the snow globes have to be unique..

Longest time standing on one leg

Imagine standing for 76 hours and 40 minutes straight – now imagine doing it on one leg.

In 1997, a Canadian managed to do exactly that during a 4-day event.

The criteria

The disengaged foot is not allowed to be rested on the standing foot.

Any other object used for balance or support is prohibited.

You cannot switch legs during the attempt.
