Out of health risks regarding their customers, IKEA is now recalling kitchen equipment all around the world

Garlic bread, pasta sauce and homemade aioli suddenly come with an unexpected warning after IKEA launched a worldwide recall involving one of its kitchen tools.

The Swedish furniture giant is asking customers across the globe to immediately stop using a specific garlic press after discovering a defect that could allow metal fragments to end up in food, says Express.co.uk.

Popular kitchen tool pulled worldwide

The recall affects batches of the IKEA 365+ VÄRDEFULL garlic press in black, sold both online and in physical stores worldwide.

According to IKEA, an internal investigation uncovered a manufacturing issue that may cause tiny metal pieces to detach from the product during use.

Those fragments could then accidentally be swallowed together with food.

Affected products carry the article number 601.636.02 and can also be identified through date markings ranging from 2411 to 2522 along with an IKEA logo on the upper handle.

Customers told to stop using product immediately

IKEA says anyone owning one of the recalled garlic presses should stop using it right away and contact the company for a full refund.

Receipts or proof of purchase will not be required.

The company also encouraged customers to notify friends or relatives if the product had been given away, borrowed or gifted.

IKEA apologizes

The furniture retailer issued an apology alongside the recall notice and acknowledged the inconvenience caused to customers.

The recall adds another chapter to the long list of global product safety withdrawals involving household kitchen items, where even small defects can quickly turn everyday cooking into a potential health risk.

For many customers, the garlic press may have looked harmless sitting next to Allen keys and flat-pack furniture instructions — until IKEA discovered it might also season dinner with metal.
