New military action has renewed concern across the region. The dispute now carries risks for security, diplomacy and global energy movement.
China called for an immediate stop to U.S.-Iran military action after both sides launched new attacks despite a truce that had been in effect since April 8.
Foreign Ministry spokesman Lin Jian said, according to Digi24, that China was following the situation with “serious concern.”
“China strongly urges the parties involved to immediately cease military operations and return to dialogue and negotiations,” Lin said.
Beijing’s message also reflected its wider interest in preventing a deeper Gulf crisis. China is an important economic and diplomatic partner for Iran, and any prolonged instability could complicate trade, energy flows and regional mediation efforts.
Attacks reach key bases
According to the Romanian outlet, Iran’s Revolutionary Guards said they sent drones toward the Ali al-Salem and Ahmad al-Jaber bases in Kuwait and the Sheikh Isa air base in Bahrain after U.S. strikes.
Xinhua reported separately that Bahrain and Kuwait said air defenses intercepted missiles and drones, while Kuwait temporarily closed its airspace.
The Chinese outlet also reported that U.S. Central Command said it carried out further strikes on Iranian targets, describing them as a response to Iranian aggression.
Iran has restricted the waterway through the Strait of Hormuz since the conflict began on February 28, though Iranian forces has previously allowed about 20 ships a day to pass through the area.
Diplomacy faces hard limits
Lin said Beijing had maintained close communication with parties involved, including Iran, and would keep working toward restoring peace.
Analysts cited by Xinhua said both Washington and Tehran appear to be using limited force while trying to avoid a larger war.
That balance remains unstable. Disputes over the Strait of Hormuz and Iran’s nuclear program continue to weigh on negotiations, while mistrust between the two governments leaves little room for quick compromise.
Xinhua also reported that regional tensions involving Israel and Lebanon could further complicate U.S.-Iran diplomacy if fighting there intensifies.
