When massive geopolitical threats start flying, global superpowers usually pick a side very quickly

Choosing to stand perfectly still while alarms ring around you sends a loud message all on its own.

Now, one massive player is refusing to blink.

A quiet reaction

Over the weekend, Moscow ordered all foreign diplomats to pack their bags and flee the Ukrainian capital immediately. Following that harsh demand, the Kremlin threatened to unleash a massive, systematic wave of new strikes on the city.

Western nations quickly rejected the fierce warning. And now, China is officially weighing in on the growing panic.

Beijing refused to say if it will evacuate its embassy. Instead, Chinese officials simply asked everyone to calm down and step back from the brink.

Pushing for talks

During a Tuesday press conference in Beijing, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Mao Ning delivered a highly cautious response to the escalating threats. She pushed for peace without actually taking a firm side in the conflict.

“China’s position on the crisis in Ukraine is consistent and clear,” Mao stated. “We believe that dialogue and negotiations are the only viable way to resolve the conflict.”

Reporters asked directly if her government would bow to Russian demands and abandon Kyiv. Mao completely dodged the question. She refused to confirm or deny any evacuation plans, according to the Kyiv Post cited by Digi24.

Blackmail and failures

Moscow insists it has started a systematic bombing campaign against major military targets in Ukraine. Yet their advanced weapons seem to be struggling.

The Institute for the Study of War reported that a newly launched Oreshnik ballistic missile completely malfunctioned. Observers claim the massive weapon crashed into an occupied field in the Donetsk region before it ever reached its target.

Meanwhile, Ukrainian leaders are completely dismissing the dramatic evacuation orders. Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha confidently labelled the harsh threats as “brazen blackmail”.

Standing their ground

Sybiha insisted that the tough language will never force Western diplomats to abandon their critical posts in the city. They plan to keep working through the chaos.

The European Union completely agrees with that defiant approach. Ambassador Katarina Mathernova confirmed that Western missions are staying right where they are.

She accused Moscow of trying to weaponize fear. For now, the international community is simply ignoring the wailing sirens and refusing to pack up their bags.
