With Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning just days away from hitting theaters, Tom Cruise is back in the spotlight — and for good reason.
The 62-year-old action star is headlining what’s being described as the most intense installment of the franchise yet, and early reviews are glowing.
But a new photo from a London press event has suddenly captured attention for a reason Cruise probably didn’t expect.
An Innocent Photo — Until You Zoom In
Entertainment reporter Richard Wilkins, 70, posted a behind-the-scenes photo with Cruise following an interview.

At first glance, it’s just another promo snap — two pros posing for the cameras.
But once fans took a closer look, the dramatic height difference between the two men stole the spotlight.
Wilkins, who stands at 6’2” (1.88m), noticeably towers over Cruise, who is widely reported to be around 5’6” (1.7m).
Though some suggested camera angles played a role — with Wilkins standing slightly closer to the lens — others weren’t buying it.
“Tom looks like he just popped out of a Kinder Surprise egg,” one Instagram user joked.
“This photo looks warped. Did they use a wide lens?” another asked.
“There’s no way Cruise likes that photo floating around,” a third commenter added.
Cruise Talks Stunts, Fear, and the Stars
Once the photo commentary died down, attention shifted to the interview itself, where Cruise opened up about his lifelong love of stunts — revealing that his daredevil streak began long before Hollywood.
I think it started when I was about three,” he said, as cited by Newsner. “I used to climb out of windows and onto the roof at night just to look at the stars. It’s just always been a part of me.
When asked whether he ever feels afraid during those hair-raising scenes, Cruise responded with trademark determination:
It’s not that I don’t feel fear,” he said. “I just don’t let it stop me. I don’t mind being scared — it pushes me.
Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning, which premiered in Tokyo earlier this month and hits U.S. theaters on May 23, is already generating massive buzz — both for its $400 million budget and its high-octane action.
